Spotify monthly listeners to money: what’s your Spotify worth?

Spotify doesn’t pay a fixed rate per stream, but 2026 estimates put the payout at about $3–$5 per 1,000 streams before your distributor’s share. At 2 plays per listener, 10,000 monthly listeners make about 20,000 streams, or roughly $60–$100 a month. A song only earns once it passes 1,000 streams in the last 12 months.

The calculator runs in your browser and needs JavaScript. The method, the numbers it uses and a worked example are below.

How the calculator works

It turns your audience into an estimated payout in four steps, each built on a figure you can check.

  1. Streams. Monthly listeners × plays per listener. Your own ratio is streams ÷ listeners for the last 28 days in Spotify for Artists; the calculator starts at 2.0.
  2. Rate. $0.003–$0.005 per stream, the range distributors publish for 2026 (Ditto, 22 June 2026). Spotify says it doesn’t pay by a per-play rate: it pays rights holders by their share of all streams in a market each month.
  3. Your distributor’s share. Annual-fee plans pass on everything (Ditto and TuneCore say so on their pricing pages). CD Baby keeps 9%, and RouteNote’s free plan keeps 15%.
  4. The 1,000-stream line. Since April 2024, a track earns nothing until it reaches 1,000 streams in the previous 12 months, plus a minimum number of unique listeners that Spotify doesn’t disclose.

Euro and pound figures use the European Central Bank reference rate of 7 October 2026 (1 EUR = 1.1177 USD = 0.84645 GBP). The listener-country setting moves the estimate inside the range, because subscription prices differ by country; lower-price countries can pay below it.

Worked example: from 1,000 to 100,000 monthly listeners

Monthly listenersStreams a monthPayout a month
1,0002,000$6–$10
10,00020,000$60–$100
50,000100,000$300–$500
100,000200,000$600–$1,000

At 2 plays per listener and $0.003–$0.005 per stream, before any distributor share, with every song past the 1,000-stream line.

The 1,000-stream rule, in plain words

Each month Spotify looks at every track’s streams over the previous 12 months. A track under 1,000 streams is left out of that month’s payout, and so is a track that hasn’t reached Spotify’s undisclosed minimum of unique listeners. The month a track crosses the line, all of that month’s streams pay; streams from earlier months don’t.

To check yours, open Spotify for Artists, go to Music and apply the Last 12 months filter. It shows the yearly stream count for each track. The calculator asks how many songs share your streams so it can tell you when some of them may sit under the line.

Questions artists ask

How much do 10,000 monthly listeners make on Spotify?

About $60–$100 a month at 2 plays per listener, before your distributor’s share. If your listeners play you more often, the figure grows with them: at 3 plays each it’s about $90–$150.

How much does Spotify pay per 1,000 streams?

About $3–$5 before your distributor’s share, based on published 2026 estimates. Spotify publishes no per-stream rate, so the real amount moves with where your listeners are and whether they listen on Premium or for free.

Do songs under 1,000 streams earn anything?

No. Since April 2024 a track earns nothing until it reaches 1,000 streams in the previous 12 months, plus an undisclosed minimum of unique listeners. Spotify checks every month, so a song can cross the line later and start earning from that month on.

Why do two artists with the same streams get paid differently?

Because Spotify pays by share of streams in each market, not by a flat rate. Subscription prices differ by country, and each distributor or label pays artists under its own agreement. Spotify’s Loud & Clear report says that within two years of their debut, artists on average earn more than half of their Spotify income outside their home country.

Should I enter monthly listeners or streams?

Streams, if you have them: Spotify for Artists shows them for each song and for your whole catalogue. Monthly listeners counts people, not plays, so the calculator multiplies it by your plays-per-listener ratio.

How much does Spotify pay out in total?

Spotify says it paid the music industry more than $11 billion in 2025, and that the 100,000th-ranked artist earned more than $7,300 from Spotify alone that year (Loud & Clear, 2026 edition).
